I saw this car that I was interested i nbuying but the seller says that the engine started knocking all of a sudden and he stop driving it. Its a nice car but I was jsut wondering if it can be something simple or serious. He says the car is running but it knocks.
if it’s knocking from the bottom end walk away unless your getting it cheap , could be pre-ignition but if you don’t know where it’s knocking from don’t take a chance , have it checked by a mechanic

With liquids density is affected very little by changes in pressure until the pressure is reduced sufficiently for bubbles of vapour to form (which has a much lower density than liquids). The density of gases varies greatly with pressure, in regions where gases behave in a near ideal fashion, the density is approximately proportional to the absolute pressure.

It’s very quiet and sounds almost like a clock ticking, coming from the left side of the laptop. Any ideas? Thanks.
Typically the hard drive. If it’s working properly, quit using it NOW. Make sure you get a ghost or acronis image of the drive and then have it tested. If I’m wrong you have a good copy of your drive for backup and can just continue to use your system. If I’m right, you can restore the image to a new drive and you’re back in business and your data is safe.
CPU’s are generally not on one side of the laptops due to the need for heatsing and venting.

Democrats are all whiners, Republicans are all whiners.
People don’t seem to realize that they’re whining in even saying that. Everyone’s a whiner, regardless of your political affiliation.
Ha, maybe you got confused by my first sentence. I was mimicking was people say on here.
Stop using your brain! It’s one-sided and you know it. We are better than them no matter who "we" are.
Edit: The poster below me just validated the asker’s viewpoint.

I Live in Toronto, and while i am out side me and my Friends Hear a Strange Buzzing sound… anyone know what it is???
More than likely a Cicada. They’re creepy looking and supposedly have the worst kind of sting in the world. Luckily, it takes a hell of a lot to provoke them.

i was arrested for some pushing and shoving with a bouncer at a nightclub and the police arrested me for public nuisance. what kind of penalty am i looking at? do i need a lawyer?
This is normally a Class C Misdemeanor – max. fine of $200. You don’t really need an attorney if this is the case unless you want to fight the charge.

My bed is quite noisy when I turn in it it is a pine bed but I’m wondering if there is anything I can do to stop it being noisy. Its the same sort of squeaking floor board noise it makes any ideas?
Come on now oil? On wood? Wouldn’t that split the wood?
not splashing out its a four poster. lol i heard talc works though
I guess I could tell you to quit turning over, but I won’t…
If you can figure out where it is squeaking, you can uses bar soap & rub it on the two rubbing surfaces. You might get someone to turn over several times while you pinpoint the noise.
Good luck…
Additional:
Don’t use oil, get a can of dry silicone spray & use it only on metal-metal squeaks…and sparingly…

I have already found the UNSW Music acustics page on it, which is very informative, but I am looking for an explanation that is slightly less technical (i’m an 8th grader doing a project, i’m fairly advanced and interested in physics though). I do play flute. Also if you know of a good introduction to acustics of instruments in general, that would be great too.
Unfortunately, there is very little good information and none that is less technical.
There is still no agreement on what would make the ideal material for a flute (and why) and what passes for our current understanding of how the air column is set to vibrate is fairly recent.
As flutist, you know yourself just how much of the flute’s tone is determined by the player rather than the flute. Think of what this implies for a physics explanation of what goes on.
As for other instruments, they are at least as difficult. Analyzing violins and other instruments of the class has been a major research project at MIT (with some lovely results, but hardly simple ones.)
Sorry I can’t be of more help.
